O fechamento do Cine Theatro Grand Splendid e o reconhecimento patrimonial da livraria El Ateneo Grand Splendid

Resumo

Resumo: Este artigo aborda os primeiros resultados de uma pesquisa sobre o Cine Theatro Grand Splendid realizada durante uma missão de estudos na cidade de Buenos Aires, Argentina. O objetivo da pesquisa foi estudar as ações patrimoniais ocorridas durante a mudança de função do antigo Cine Theatro Grand Splendid para livraria El Ateneo Grand Splendid. O Cine Theatro foi fundado em 1919 e permaneceu em funcionamento até o ano de 2000 quando fechou para abrir como livraria. O Grand Splendid representa, ao nosso entender, algumas mudanças significativas que ocorreram na indústria cinematográfica e no mercado editorial de Buenos Aires, durante a segunda metade da década de 1990. Neste artigo são apresentadas as fontes e locais de pesquisa, a história do Cine Theatro e a cronologia dos acontecimentos referentes à mudança de função e ao reconhecimento patrimonial.

Abstract: This paper presents the first results of a piece of research on Grand Splendid Movie Theater done during a study trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina. The study aimed to analyze culture heritage actions during the change of function of Grand Splendid Theater into El Ateneo Grand Splendid bookstore. The movie theater was founded in 1919 and remained open until the year 2000, when it was closed down and adapted into a bookstore. Grand Splendid symbolizes some of the great changes that occurred in the movie and publishing industries in Buenos Aires during the second half of the 1990’s. This article presents research sources and sites, the Movie Theater history and the chronology of events that refer to function change and cultural heritage recognition.
