Abstract

In this article I examine three different theories concerning the possible world concept, namely the extreme realism, which is attributed to David Lewis, moderate realism, in the light of Robert Stalnalker conceptions and finally analyze the concept in Saul Kripke, supported by two of his key works: modal logic semantical and Naming and necessity. The following question guides the article: considerations around counterfactual situations engender commitment to the existence of entities exemplifying these situations? The aim is to examine the commitment to metaphysical conception of possible worlds in the examined theories.

Keywords: Metaphysics, modalities, realism, possible worlds, accessibility.
