Abstract

This article discusses the problem of transition from animal to man in Bataille’s work, a process marked by three factors: the construction of tools and the operations concerning labor, the interdictions concerning death and sexuality and the transgressions of whom these interdictions and the world of work limits are victim. I will emphasize the reason why the product of this process - a humanized animal - will be the place of an essential irresolution. For this irresolution, that finds their expression in several cultural and subjective aspects, Bataille gives a precise meaning: a fascination surreptitiously exerted by reality that men was obligated to leave behind according to tool requirements and corollaries.

Keywords: Animal, man, labor, interdiction, transgression.
